Thank you for visiting my site.

My name is Peter Wilde and I am a self-employed senior retail and I.T. professional trading through my company, Lowndes Consultants Limited. I have been working as such since March 1999. This site describes my professional skills, experience, and the services I can offer.

I have over 30 years experience in the retail industry. Initially trained in retail operations I became involved in systems at an early stage. I am a highly commercially oriented systems professional who has a good working knowledge of technology and thoroughly understands the business processes in retailing.

Having successfully executed senior management roles in both large retailing organisations and their major systems suppliers I am particularly well placed to provide strong management of projects, programmes and departments where there is out-sourcing or a high reliance upon supplier performance, whether this be for the retailer or the supplier.

My direct retail experience covers food (2 years), fashion (4 years), department store (2 years), restaurant / hospitality (7 years) and wholesale distribution (7 years) sectors involving business areas such as retail operations, buying and merchandising, marketing, CRM, supply chain and distribution. During my 15 years as a senior manager of two major systems suppliers and a software house I have managed projects for major retailers in the fashion, toys, department store, electrical, utility, books, pharmaceutical, and travel sectors.

I have worked directly for major retailing names such as Burton, Somerfield, Nurdin & Peacock, Allders,  Pizza Hut and J D Wetherspoon. As a supplier I have managed or been responsible for projects with Unichem, British Shoe Corporation, British Gas, Co-operative Retail Services, Allders, Toys 'R' Us, Dixons Group, Laura Ashley, Mackays, Peacocks Stores, C&A, East Midlands Electricity, North Eastern Electricity, BAA Retail, Fortnum and Mason, and Caviar House.

Project and programme management has been a strong feature in my working experience, both directly and indirectly as the manager responsible. I am Prince2 certified, a methodology that I strongly support though I believe its application has to be flexibly applied according to the project/programme and corporate needs.

My most recent roles have been in consultancy, contract project, programme and interim I.T. management. I am looking to help retailers or suppliers in a similar manner. My broad view of retailing, my in-depth knowledge of business processes and experience working at board level also make me ideally qualified for strategic, analysis and troubleshooting assignments.
